Oregano

Probably the most easy herb you can grow.

Oh dear.....

This was last year,
and this is today.....
Temperature has been around -20 ºC  in Amsterdam last February, it nearly killed my rosemary....But as you can see, there is a tiny little flower, so maybe it will recover! However, for the time being I think I'm going to buy me a new one for kitchen-use, I can almost see it tremble when I approach it with a pair of scissors....

Cherry Tree

Yes, I know...and I agree..... this is probably the ugliest cherry tree in de world!
But if you take a close look you can see all a the little flowers in the tree, and each little flower will turn into a cherry. A sweet, juicy, gorgeous tasting cherry! I know this for a fact because last year there was ONE cherry in this tree, and it was the best cherry I had the during whole season!

Organizing all the seeds...

I have arranged all the seeds by month, there is always a peak in April and May.
The broad beans and peas are already in the ground, in June I'll sow peas for the second time, then we can eat fresh peas until the end of August I hope!
..

Soon I will be starting to sow the tomatoes and peppers, inside. They can't go outside until the second half of May. This week I'll start to sow spinach, beets and carrots on the balcony. And I have to put the strawberries in new planters with fresh fertilized soil. Last year they bore fruit 3(!) times during the season, so I think they definitely need something extra....

Tarragon

The tarragon comes back by itself too! In the middle you can see a last dead stalk from last year, all around it are all the new seedlings.

Disappeared peas

A corner of the balcony, the containers are prepared for  the peas. Can't wait till they'll be ready to eat.... I remember last year, when I had asked my 12 year old son to peel them, and was wondering why there were only so few of them left when he was ready. It turned out that for every pea he threw in the bowl, another one disappeared in his mouth..... They are so sweet when you eat them just after you've picked them!

Prepared for broad beans

Today I'm starting to sow, broad beans. I hope the snails won't eat them all like they did last year....
If not, in about 6 weeks these containers will be filled with 60 cm high plants with beautiful flowers!

Surprise!

I love it when plants grow back the next year, all by itself, always a surprise what it will turn out to be .....
The first one might be a zucchini, the second one parsley of cilantro. The third one is rocket, I love how that grows literally everywhere! Knowing that, I'm always amazed what they dare to charge you for it at the grocery store.....

Mint Leaves

It's stilly very chilly early in the morning, but the sun was shining and I just had to pick some of the first mint leaves to make fresh mint tea. I sowed it 3 years ago and it keeps coming back every spring.
